DictateNow sponsors Hertfordshire Law Society Annual Dinner - 7th June 2018

DictateNow sponsors Hertfordshire Law Society Annual Dinner Once again, members of the team here at DictateNow will be attending the Hertfordshire Law Society Annual Dinner; an event we will also be sponsoring in recognition of the society’s important work for law firms and solicitors in the region. The black-tie event takes place on 7 June at The Old Palace, Hatfield House, which was built around 1485 by the Bishop of Ely, John Morton and is renowned for its important mediaeval brickwork. Given the busy schedule of exhibitions and events we have attended recently, it is good for our team members to meet up with clients and colleagues old and new in such inspiring surroundings, for what is one of the highlights of the legal sector calendar. Whilst we will undoubtedly enjoy the drinks reception in the beautiful gardens, we will remain vigilant for a chance to introduce our transcription and digital dictation services into conversations – no hard sell, just a gentle reminder of the benefits available to law firms of every size. The guest speaker is Simon Davis, incoming Vice President of the Law Society, who will no doubt prove an interesting and entertaining listen. He is a senior litigator at the London office of Clifford Chance and will be the first magic circle solicitor to take office since 2012. Sponsorship is important Admittedly not an altogether altruistic gesture, we sponsor the Hertfordshire Law Society Annual Dinner because it is our ‘home’ society for our Borehamwood Head Office and we like to meet customers or prospects face-to-face. The Annual Dinner is not a sales opportunity in the truest sense, but it helps raise awareness of the DictateNow brand and in these complicated times for marketing, that is no bad thing. We hope that when any attendees of the event are stuck late in their offices, with lack of support staff and desperate to get a transcription returned, a file opened, or a document formatted, they will remember our name and get in touch. The Hertfordshire Law Society has come a long way since it was formed in May 1883 with a full membership subscription costing £1 – it is currently £45, which represents huge inflation-busting value. The Annual Dinner requires sponsors to cover the cost of staging this glamorous event, so funds raised from subscriptions can be used to help Hertfordshire Law Society raise its profile and promote the interests of the local legal community. Members can develop their careers and share ideas through networking and training events. The Society also participates in numerous important forums regarding the legal profession and makes its voice heard at a national level. If you are a member and planning to attend, please seek us out and say hello. We would be glad to enjoy a glass of wine with you and promise not to bore you too much with our tales of transcription. Global Law Summit

DictateNow will be attending the Global Law Summit, 23-25 February. This auspicious event marks 800 years since the sealing of the Magna Carta, and will welcome up to 2,000 delegates, speakers and guests – from representatives of international law firms and in-house General Counsel through to government representatives and academics from across the world. Introducing the Global Law Summit The Global Law Summit was launched by the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, the Rt Hon Chris Grayling MP, in October 2013. It is a one-off, world-class international conference, to be held in London between 23rd and 25th February 2015, in partnership with Thomson Reuters. The event takes place at Queen Elizabeth II Centre and Central Hall Westminster, London. Marking 800 years since the sealing of Magna Carta, the meeting is a superb opportunity to examine how the Rule of Law can positively influence the global economy and create a wider sense of stability. Businesses all over the world depend on high-quality, agile and modern legal services to ensure a properly regulated, efficient and ethical marketplace. The Global Law Summit will bring together leaders in law to discuss and debate, and will encourage the development of relationships across markets and jurisdictions. As well as serving as a platform to consider some of the critical issues facing the legal profession, the event will allow for networking with fellow practitioners from right around the world. This summit is a not-for-profit venture and any surplus will be invested in legacy materials. The Global Law Summit is a chance for senior lawyers and business leaders from across the world to come together to consider key developments in the legal sector. With over half of the world’s leading law firms headquartered in London, the UK capital makes the perfect location to think about new global challenges. Our programme will consider how the Rule of Law has helped to shape London’s position as the largest specialist and high-tech centre for resolution in financial, business and property disputes. It is a model that can be extended right around the globe. After all, in our age of technology and interconnectedness, the rule of law is more critical than ever in fostering growth – supporting business, government and wider society. We will welcome up to 2,000 delegates, speakers and guests – from representatives of international law firms and in-house General Counsel through to government representatives and academics from across the world. Among those taking part will lawyers and business figures from the fast-developing economies of Brazil, Russia, India and China, as well as other leading nations including Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea and Turkey. So if you are looking for new insights and the opportunity to network and engage with key partners and future clients, this unique summit is in a class of its own. The event is supported by:
  • Bar Council
  • City of London Corporation
  • City of London Law Society
  • British Council
  • Law Society of England and Wales
  • Law Society of Northern Ireland
  • Law Society of Scotland
  • Ministry of Justice
